using the proper valve spring compressor helps, if it sticks give it a gentle tap with a small rubber/plastic hammer. I have been known on head off valve replacements to upend the head into a deep bakers tray and pool the head in dex III or diesel

For the exhaust a old fashion side valve spring compressor tool will help greatly.
A thump with a nylon nammer or brass drift helps too.
good luck finding a mechanic with a side valve , valve spring compression tool.

I'm using a cheap Taiwan valve spring compressor it does sort of work it has some trouble but my old man is helping me im hitting it with a screw driver and hammer upward from the hole the exhaust comes out of but the little buggers not moving not even a little? my old man has done a far bit of work on my granddads 80 inch series 1 and he said he never had any trouble like we are having its like there been pressed on we sprayed the hole lot with WD40 to see it it will loosen up

If you put 3 or 4 tacks around the inside of it with an arc welder it might shrink enough to get it out.

A new one is a press fit and you have to peen the edges of the recess over it to keep it in.
    Good Luck.
