    Uphill power loss 3.5 V8 stage 1

    Hi guys,

I've been having issues with the ignition on my series III stage 1 lately. Replaced the coil and fixed up some 'dodgey' connections. Starts up great now and is running great...until we hit a hill. It's then that we lose the power

I'm thinking it's still an ignition problem...condensor perhaps or the high tension wire?

It's on LPG too btw. Any thoughts on a solution would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers, Mike

If your engine loses power after a hard run up a hill your spark plugs may be running too hot. Get a set of Bosch WR7DC+ spark plugs, set gap at 0.7mm and make sure you tighten them correctly. The gasket between the plug body and the head must be flattened by the tightening for the heat to flow correctly from the plug to the head. Loose plugs run hot and lock up their threads, apart from running like crap.

    Cheers bee utey,

I did a quick check of the plugs, looked fine, perhaps i didn't tighten them up enough when i put them back in. Will give that a shot. thanks!

    Try replacing your HT leads.

The Rover V8 is very fussy regarding the quality of the components in the HT system and with LGP being very hard on the HT system too, you're getting a double whammy!!!
