My sisters Freelander needs to go see a good mechanic definately. I have no clue what is wrong with her car! Way above my knowledge haha
Howdy folks, I am thinking of sending my Disco to a mechanic to get some professional eyes on not just the oil leaks, but to just give it all a good check over, make sure diffs, etc all good. (I noticed a noise today trying to decide if a wheel bearing wurr or a diff wurr ahah) Who do you guys entrust with your landrovers? I always normally do things myself because after some botched jobs at mechanics, and dating a rather bad one once upon a time haha, I decided I was better off doing things myself. Physically difficult now and feel i need professional eyes on it. I know a few places not to take it. So after some recommendations![]()
i will be jacking it up over weekend to see if any play in the wheels. Coming from the rear, also going to suss the horsefloat wheel bearings as I was towing that. So could very well be a wurr coming from it and not the disco. Just trying to get my hands on a jack big enough, little one here will not even touch the disco fully extended. and too high to use bricks. I do not have the jack they come with I don't think. I may even fix all the O rings and gaskets where it looks to me leaking from myself, then get everything else checked/serviced at a mechanics. Or jsut pay for someone to do it all and save wrecking myself for once LOL!!

Try Peter of PCB landrovers at 19 starr Avenue North Plympton Ph 08 83500110. He will be back at work on Monday. I have my defender 130 with him at the moment, with lots of work to do.
thankswill give him a buzz monday!
Peter is an excellent mechanic but primarily interested in all things Defender and diesel. See how you go with him re the Freebie. If you need minor work done, I do some mechanical repairs as well as my auto gas work.
its a td4 freelander so hopefullyhis website says all things landie haha. her freelander is probably sometime small, i have no idea. it misfires since it wouldnt start. could be fuel pump, injector. i have no idea. i cannot work it out. was sure it was fuel pump until it started.
Regular or intermittent misfire?
Does it start easy?
it is fine until hit 2000rpm after that it runs horrible. misfires like crazy. doesnt seem to blow smoke, other than when its been sitting for a bit. which it is at the moment. It ran perfectly fine before. until she went to start it after a doc appointment and it would not go. had to trailer it home. it was like it was getting no fuel, or no spark. the only thing it did before was the engine like would flash on for a few seconds, slow the car down for a few seconds then be fine again. when it was plugged into the local mechanics diagnostic tool up here, it just revealed speed sensor fault. she hadnt had chance to take it anywhere else. and now we have been trying to sus it out and have no idea where to start LOL.
it does start easy. stops misfiring at about 3000ish rpm.
