Heaters Not Working???? Disco 1
Just wanted to pass on some info for the Disco 1 peeps. since owning my Disco 1 the heaters have never ever worked. done alot of research on this topic and was starting to get a bit worried when people were talking about head gasket issues and air locks in the system or heater matrix and control issues.
Yesterday i spent th whole day tearing my dash to pieces after trying to get the air bubbles/ lock out of the system. After this stage I still had no heating in my vehicle.
I could touch the Heater core when the car was running and the dash was out and discovered there that it was cold. Once I discovered this it could only be one of two things , an air lock or a blocked heater core. I took of the two heater pipes on the right hand side of the motor and shoved the hose inside then let it rip. thinking that if there was an air lock this should release it. to my surprise no water came out the other side, so i checked there was no leaks in side then and turned the hose up to full noise. all of a sudden the water started to dribble through and the next second this black crap came flying out and the heater core was flowing water again.
I bolted everything back together and gave the whole system a good flush . NOW I HAVE HEATERS AGAIN YEHAH.
anyway some of you are probably aware of this but for those who are not give this a crack before taking your dash apart

Keep and eye on your coolant level, usually after unblocking the heater matrix they start to leak.

Learn by doing.
Nice work, glad you have a heater again!
Agree with woko though, just keep an eye on it to make sure you don't slowly leak coolant out and eventually overheat.
