I am a happy man Landy is fixed and running like a dream. I tee'd into the small pipe from the wastegate modulator to the wastegate acutator and was recording zero boost . After a close examination of all the small pipes I found the small pipe from the metal intercooler pipe to the wastegate modulator had split. Replaced the pipe and went for another test WOW what a difference I have a turbo powered Disco again . Thanks to everyone for their comments and advise much appreciated

Make sure whatever hose you use in that spot is capable of withstanding reasonably high temperatures and boost. I used generic vacuum hose from one of the local spare parts sellers and found that the hose had turned to jelly where it joins the metal intercooler pipe.

    cheers

Some time it's the small things

Glad it's sorted. Another area to consider when fault finding.

Those 3 pipes (And the actual modulator) are the cause of MANY issues, it is one of the first places I go to to check overboosting or lack of boost in D2's.
All the pipes need to be in good condition and clamps tight. Obviously the valve needs to be functional, too.

Could I have been correct in thinking the bypassed thing-a-ma-jig was a red flag, warranting closer inspection? not bad for an old barefoot bowler,

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
