    Bearing Part Number

    Hi there all,

Does anyone know what the part number is of the bearing in the idler pulley to the right of the Aircon compressor and water pump on a TD5 Defender MY2002.

Mine seized up completely this evening.

    Cheers, Jurgens.

ERR6658 is for the whole piece, just unbolt and bolt the new one on, about $70.

Hi Jurgens, the bearing you are looking for is a 6303 2RS (= 2 Rubber Seals), pretty easy to find off the shelf!

    Thanks Silvio,

I took the mangles one to our local bearing shop and the guy behind the counter knew exactly what it was. Just took one look and went to get one from the shelf. At $10 it was not so bad at all.

    Regards, Jurgens.

I replaced mine the other day. The old 1 was a bit grumbly so I opted for a complete pulley unit as the pulley had some nicks in it. Got it from LRdirect for 35 odd dollars landed. Really cheap insurance against an unscheduled roadside vacation!
I opened the seal up on the old 1 and it was dry as a tin god in the Simpson! filled it with grease in the bearing packer and it was like new! Not a sound, so I think it would be good for a few ks in an emergency. May pay for people to do a check on their old 1's.

    Cheers Scott
