G'day Bojan, The gear FTC73 should be exactly the same width as the original one. I am thinking you might have moved the mainshaft forward a tad when fitting the new gear. When this happens the shouldered thrust washer on the mainshaft in front of the rear bearing can slip off the collar it sits on and cause this problem. Take the gear back off and grip the rear end of the mainshaft by hand and rotate it several times while pulling rearwards on the shaft. When it slips back in place put the gearlever into 3rd gear to stop it moving forward again and refit the gear. That should fix it. Good idea to loctite the gear into place as well to stop movement and prevent the rear snap ring from copping a flogging from linear movement.
