    Unblocking a clogged radiator

    Good Morning everyone,

    Is there a way to unclog a possible blocked 300tdi radiator?? I don't want to buy a new one if I don't have too not just yet anyway??

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    If you're thinking about some sort of chemical or flushing thing I think you're wasting your time.

    Pull it out, take it to your local radiator place and get it rodded.
    If they say its stuffed then have it recored or buy a new one.

    If you're hesistant about spending any money on the radiator, consider that the 300tdi's biggest weakness is that they don't like to get hot.
    Hot = stuffed head = lotsa $$$$.
    Radiators are much cheaper

    The only way to fix a blocked radiator, is to get a new core fitted. You will then have many years of 'cool' motoring. Believe me, I have done it.

    I always had overheating problems with 'Fred', after getting thoroughly sick of it and trying everything else, fan hub, head swaps, head gaskets, timing, etc, etc

    I fitted a brand new but inexpensive radiator, ------ no more trouble !!!!!

    I did get the old radiator rodded out and had the tropical mod done at the same time.
    I have put it aside as a spare at the moment, but I'm still thinking that even after getting that work done, there could still be a problem with a remaining plaque build up inside the tubes of the core.

    Arthur's on the Munni... either a NEW cheapie or a proper re-core. Rodding is only partially effective, as it depends on the quality of workmanship and how long the Rodder can afford to spend on it. - Remember, that 'plaque' is a great insulator, even when the coating is thin. You will never get original efficiency in a rodded radiator.
    But if you can take home the core....and spend the weekend on it yourself...

    Either way, (rodding or replacement core) get it done by someone familiar with LR radiators. Don't ask how I know...
