Slight vibration at 100km/h after towing van to QLD.

    G'day all
I'm probably being my usual paranoid self but I am noticing a slight vibration at around 100km/h (no van). It seems to have only developed since arriving in Maroochydore yesterday. So I got under there and there is nothing out of the ordinary. Front shaft is fine, no oil leaks but I noticed a slight amount of end play in the front output flange, 1mm if that but it is noticeable. Plus a slight click before it takes up. She pulled like a train all the way and no trouble at all. I'm running SynTrax and have a Roverdrive sump. Should I be worried as we have a lot of driving before we get home.

it could be simply tire balance, they do go out of round too, doesn't cost much to check at a tyre retailer.

I would not want any endplay in the output flange, was it there before the trip ?
might be prudent to whip the shaft off and tighten it up.

What goingbush said!. And while you are doing that it gives you a chance to work both front uni joints thru their arcs and feel for play. Dry or tight joint will cause vibration. The other thing to check while under there is the colour if the diff oil.... Should be clean gear oil. If its brown or silvery then there might be issues... Good luck.

I did all this pre trip. The old oil had some brass flecks in it but that's about it. The only thing I did not put a socket on was the centre nut on the front output flange but It seemed tight.??
