Still not getting turbo boost.
Hi y'all,
Been reading your threads and there is a lot of interesting stuff on here, has helped me with some problems. My 99 Disco is running a lot smoother thanks to your trials you have put on here.
I still have no boost and have just this morning, disconnected the vacuum line from the waste gate actuator and disconnected the vac line at the modulator that comes from the inlet and plugged it in to the waste gate actuator.
The result was that after 2000 rpm, it began to leap frog and or pig root down the road, as if the waste gate was going on, off, on, off etc. I then took it down to the local garage and put some air into the actuator and the waste gate was opening and closing, so it appears to be working ok.
Modulator is sucking but I don't know if it is enough.
Perhaps someone might be able to shed some light on this and point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Connect the hose from wastegate actuator to the hose from the turbo outlet/intercooler inlet bypassing the modulator. Then test drive.

Thanks Northiam,
I did as you susggested, nothing new happened. Also disconnected electric from modulator and looped a new hose from the two free outlets on the modulator. Did this at separate intervals between test drives to see what might happen but nothing new.
On idle, the waste gate actuator does not move, even under revs. It appears to not even try to close the gate under revs or load. When I hurl the boot at her, she still refuses to budge.
On the road it gets to about 3 thou revs and then just peters out and slowly climbs the rev counter but there are no long enough straights around here to see what she will do.
Regards

Just had another look, and pulled the hose off the actuator and there is no air coming through from the intercooler outlet, hmmm stumped!

You'd get the same kind of kangarooing you saw with the hose disconnected if the pipe was actually blocked.
Turbos don't make boost with the engine unloaded so doing experiments in the drive is pretty much leading you up the garden path.
The symptoms sound like the wastegate sticking partly open.
If you can hook up with a nanocom owner and do a session recording fueling inputs you'll be able to pinpoint the cause pretty quickly.
