    Which EGT probe to buy?

Just looking at Auber Instruments, specifically at EGT probes and Gauge.
I remember a post (or 2) about this subject, but cannot find it in Search.
What is the preferred probe to fit a 300TDi, if not the part number a description of length of probe tip and lead and what type of connector, tap and screw in or weld in, Thanks in Advance, Regards Frank.

I use the 90 degree probe with the screw in adaptor, 1/8" NPT thread. Seems to work well.

EGT Probe, Exposed Tip [TC-KEGT] - $36.50 : auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry

This is the one they send with their EGT kit on ebay.

Is there a retailer in Australia, freight from the US is ridiculous, Regards Frank.

I am all for supporting Australian business, but I can't justify $265 + postage, sorry just too far over the top, will have to go with the Auber on eBay, or their website, Regards Frank.

I also have the auberinstruments ebay model,

the NPT adaptor version is what you need, but you will need to also source a 1/8 NPT tap to thread the tapered hole, a bit expensive at about $35 -$45 locally

I've got the Auber 90 degree probe with the screw in adaptor, 1/8" NPT thread as well. Had it 18 months or so now and never had a problem. You can also connect a $2 buzzer from Jaycar if you want it to sound like a smoke alarm going off when you hit a pre-set limit. Very loud!

The place to tap is a thin blanking plate just off the exhaust manifold.

Have a good look with the plate off before drilling/tapping - from memory, you want it slightly off centre for the probe to be in free space.
