LT230 Crawler gears - what are my options

    HI all

The last piece of the puzzle for me now is upgrading the LT230. I am running 285/75 16 Mickey Thompson MTZ's with MD axles & drive flanges, ARB lockers and Ashcroft CV's. I am now about to order the one piece cross shaft and extended sump for the LT230 from Ashcroft, but I am unsure as to what gear set to order. I would like to lower the RPM for rock crawling, but don't want to change my highway rpm/speeds.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks heaps
    Andrew

I wasn't aware that ashcroft make gear sets for the LT230? By what you are describing, you want to change low range, not high range. If so, that rules a ring and pinion change out. You are left with ordering a LT230 underdrive from Ashcroft, or a set of LT230 low range gear sets from M R Automotive in Brisbane. You can have either 30% lower, or 49% lower.
