LT 230
The front output of a couple of transfer boxes (with over 200k) i have checked have a certain amount of play. As there is only one bearing for this shaft before it connects to the centre diff i guess there would be play as soon as the bearing starts to wear. The question is how long can this be used without causing further damage? If there is play on the output does this also show that the tapered bearings holding the main shaft are worn?

I am pretty sure that they all have more play than I think they should
They are probably all like it from what I have observed

If there is play, then the oil seals won't hold.
One of my boxes has at least 350,000km on it. The bearings were I think replaced once in that time and no bearing play. Diff play however. Heaps of that.
