    Did I read 8000 km ??? a Britpart timing chain ??

when I changed my injector harness and oil pump bolt at about 130k the timing chain was fine from above & below , (could not lift it off the cog at all)

The old Toyota B timing chains never broke, assumed Td5 would be the same, the timing chain one reason I thought the Td5 reigns superior over Tdi's and 1HDT's , hope I'm not proven wrong. (is there a nervous emoticon)

Isn't there some semi-common issue with the timing chain gemstones?

    Unhappy Unlucky or what??

Pardon my ignorance but is the Timing Chain on the Td5 a single row or Duplex?
Timing chain breakage is fairly rare among the many varieties of engine that run them, they can get terribly slack and noisy but.........well at least in my past experience will not break unless something like a tensioner or some bit of other shrapnell goes through between chain and sprockets.
I have a '98 Tdi 300 with the "Achilles Heel" timing belt drive and have been considering doing a custom chain drive conversion in my machine shop.
I have to admit I am disappointed to hear that chain failure is common in the Td5, I thought that they may have got it sorted there.
For many years I drove various models of Jaguar cars with the great old XK engines of different capacities from 2.4 to 4.2 litre, these engines run quite a long duplex timing chain in two runs and with the many hundreds of thousands of Klm's driven I have not had a chain failure.
So what is it with Land Rover.............unlucky or what?

Actually this will be the first I've heard of.
    Someone suggested Britpsrt chain?
In any case definitely not what could be considered common!

Not sure how Nanocom works but do you see RPM signal when you crank? a lot of cars will show no RPM signal when the crank sensor goes. You can also remove the sensor and see if you can produce AC by waving a metal spanner close to the end. Open circuit on the injectors is an odd one, sound's stupid but are all the fuses OK? where does the injectors pick up the feed from and is there anything at the injectors?

Duplex chain, not a common failure by any stretch of the imagination. LR chain and gear set in my case although I am checking with the supplier as the boxes were unbranded.

All diesels are interference. (or at least all 4-stroke diesels made in the last 50 years)
