Has anyone sleeved a TD5?
After reco the head, replace a piston, all rings and big ends, water pump, thermostat, injector loom, oil cooler seals etc etc and a magnificent startup from rebuild that was a sight to behold too good to be true!!!) now instead of oil in water I have water in oil!! Am guessing the cleaning, honing etc has removed the chemiweld which must have been sealing a crack in no4 cylinder-water drips out (from below) with piston at top, and stops when crank rotated and piston down.
Does anyone have any experience sleeving a TD5? Cost estimates, advice for or against? Or a TD5 block/short motor for sale?

Have you tried using Chemiweld again?
I seem to remember reading that the Td5 shouldn't be re-sleeved

I know they are not a wet sleeved engine, and have seen Turners and also Britishparts.co.uk with sleeves. Decided against trying chemiweld myself- as it is at best uncertain and just want to get it finished now!! Technically I guess any engine can be re-sleeved subject to availability of an appropriate sleeve and its compatibility with the block ie standard wall thickness etc etc. I just wondered if anyone had done it ona TD5, costs etc and any happy or horror stories. Anyway, decided to go with a block from a wreck at TRS-as it will probably end up quicker time wise for me and at $450+freight seemed likely to be around what I might have expected the sleeving to cost anyway. I would still be interested to hear any experiences though.
cheers
Russell.
