    Exclamation May I borrow?...

I have decided to bite the bullet and replace my timing belt on my 300TDI Auto. I have half the front off as I replaced the water pump, P gasket, all the hoses, Belt tensioner and all the belts. I then decided to replace the intercooler with an allisport version. As a result I removed the radiator to get at a bracket to be modified to fit new Intercooler.

Long story short I thought I may as well replace timing belt as it was easy to get at. I have a mate making up the flywheel and oil timing lock thingys for me and I have a metre long breaking bar to undo nut. What I would like to buy, beg, borrow or steal is the hub nut locking thingy special tool which attaches to the nut to be able to undo and then lock up the crankshaft nut. I am doing this over coming weekend and would return on Sunday or Monday at latest. I am aware of but not interested in doing the engine turn over method of undoing nut.

I am in West Beach Adelaide and can pick up from anyone local, or maybe delivery from interstate?? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please PM me with phone number if you are able to help.

    Many thanks.

I have the timing pin kit that apparently is strong enough to hold the crank when undoing the bolt

I have never used it so can't guarantee

I will have to dig it out in the shed, but if you want it it's yours

    Let me know

Hi SiddersC, I will take you up on your kind offer, I have a mate who is going to make one up for me. But from what I have read that is really only a locking at TDC tool not recommended for locking up flywheel. Having said that, I have read there are some that are strong enough to do it. I will PM you with my phone number.

Meanwhile if anyone has the nut locking tool I can borrow I would love to hear from you.

    Cheers
    Pete

I have managed to undo crankshaft Pulley Nut and removed Pulley. Much to my surprise about 10 mins of working it with my Makita 18v impact wrench managed to loosen the thing. Now it is off I have shown the pulley and nut to my engineering mate and he is going to make me the tools needed to remove/replace it in future. He's Australia's best engineer (as he constantly reminds me) so it will be an easy job for him. I therefore have no further need to beg borrow or steal the necessary.
    Cheers
    Pete.
