    Thermostat or Coolant Temp Sensor?

    cheers

Add: The fuel temp is tracking the ECT as you'd expect, so I'm guessing the thermostat.
Mine runs pretty low too. I changed my thermostate just in case but got the same result.

    Happy days.

I'd check your ECT sensor if that is the case.

The thermostat doesn't open at all until 82°C, so below that coolant is just circulating in the engine.
The engine isn't warmed up until coolant hits something like 78°C. It will effect the behaviour of the Auto also.

It is in no way normal.

    cheers

Well spotted,I know from the past how a motor running too cold ain't good,
Guess the good thing is it looks REAL easy to get off, should have done it with motor out ,oh well, more skinned knuckles.

What do the spikes in fuel and coolant temp mean, just lost proper communications with ecu?

I think they are communication related. Every recording I've done has them.

Just on the ambient pressure side of things, went for a run today and noticed that air pressure is usually about 92-93 kpa, it even dropped as low as 90 at one stage and I was driving reasonably economically, as I mentioned earlier I'm at an elevation of about 400m, what sort of readings are others seeing, would the pressure dropping to 90 kpa mean there is a restriction somewhere?

Here's the log (just delete the zip extension)

How-oh-how do you delete the zip extension and open that file? I tried something and I won't tell you what happened . . .
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Pressure drops by about 1% for every 100 metres altitude gained above sea level so 97kpa @ 400M would be the equivalent of 101kpa at sea level which is pretty normal.

There is a section in the recording where the engine is idling and ambient pressure is steady at just over 96kpa and intake pressure is around 97kpa. That looks about right.

    cheers

    Airbox TD5

    Hey fellas.
Regarding the airbox, I too had problems with dust getting past the filter. The underside of the airbox lid had a coating of dust on it and the protective grile on the MAF was dirty also. So I pulled the airbox and cleaned out the "ducks bill" and greased up the seals with petroleum jelly and no more dust.
Seems to have improved the performance of the airbox. PS. The duckbill was totally clogged with debris.
    Regards

To delete the .zip extension on windows machines, you need to have file extensions visible in folder options , then you simply right click the file and select rename and then remove the extension
    (not sure on linux)

So I have replaced the intercooler hoses and thermostat now,(lovely job btw) and have driven several hundred kms, still not super happy with performance, and still seems to be changing gears strangely too, takes a fair bit too kick down when labouring, here is another log file I did yesterday, I am going up a hill at the end at about 17 min, it was a decent hill I must admit, but the car still seems to run out of legs over about 2750 rpm.

    here it is

Ps. the mileage is pretty good on the last long run but it is now running too hot I feel.
aftermarket thermostat, might be the problem
