    Perentie 110 Power Steering Conversion.

    Hi All,

I'm currently sourcing all the parts I need to convert my perentie 110 to power steering. Through reading other posts I believe I need the following.

1x 4-bolt PAS box from a defender or disco
1x Isuzu 4BD1 PAS Pump ( got this already)
Reservoir ( I've heard the disco one is good)
    Hoses

My main problem with the above is the hoses. Is there a set of land rover hoses that will fit? I don't really want to muck around with custom hoses so was hoping that maybe 200/300tdi or v8i hoses would fit. Has anyone done this conversion and might be able to help?

    Thanks,

    Matt

IMHO you are better off getting a new PAS box. You can get a new genuine one for not much more than a SH version of unknown quality.
Disco versions will have the wrong drop arm and it is a PITA to change.

Chances are the rubber on any SH hoses will need replacing anyway. However tdi versions should be about the right length, and would be good starting point.

I don't know the problem with custom hoses though? When they need replacing in the future it is easier and likely cheaper to go to pirtek or enzed and get the hoses replaced on the spot for not much money, rather than try and find them in a LR parts catalogue, order them, wait, etc...

For what the Genuine box costs its not worth getting the britpart ones...

We are going to put a kit together at a competitive price...

KLR Automotive at South Windsor NSW is doing the conversion for about $1,700 or $1,500 for all the required parts.

Apparently they are waiting for some more PAS pumps.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thanks everyone. As I've already bought the pump I think I'll do it all myself with some custom hoses as suggested and buy a genuine new steering box.

Barney I bought the Perentie for much the same reasons everyone else does - mainly based around capability reliability, economy and I have a passion for land rovers. I don't see how adding power steering will significantly impact any of these qualities while making it easier to drive. The power steering in my 1997 disco hasn't failed on me yet (fingers crossed).
