    Reactivate tune in td5 ecu?

In my lack of infinite wisdom I've lost my tune. I have two ecu's the stock ecu for my 2000 td5 (msb...ecu) and a reflashed (nnn....ecu). I was chasing a abs problem and thought it was in the ecu. So did the switch put the original ecu back in with ecu without knowing that I needed to use a nanocom to complete the switch. Long story short, put the flashed ecu back in and haven't got he same ponies and blow a little more smoke.

Can this be rectified with a nanocom and a person with the right smarts? Or am I forking out for a professional remap?

If you have just removed the NNN ECU, placed the MSB ECU in car, removed the MSB ECU and placed back the NNN, and engine runs, there should not be any problem. Problem can occur, If you have changed any settings in the NNN ECU.
I have a spare ECU in car, and I can just disconect one and connect another, without any problems. And if both ECUs are correcly set for the car, I don't need to use the Nanocom for the change.

If you have changed the NNN back to the original tune then your modified tune needs to be reloaded.
You will need to obtain it from the original source to reload it if you dont have a copy.
I also find it odd that you are saying you have less power and more smoke
Your modified tune would have more fuel to give extra power if everything is well done you will get minimal smoke
If your standard tune is giving more smoke and less power something doesnt quite add up.

G'day thanks for the pm I tried to pm you but it wouldn't send. The truck s a 2000 defender manual. I think the truck is still down a little on power. When I first got the defender it had the remapped nnn ecu and all hell use to break lose when the turbo kicked in. It is still ok but not a radical as it was.
The reason I put the original Msb ecu back in was, my abs, traction control and hand brake light don't light up and abs acuates at low speed when it shouldn't. I thought it could have been ecu problem. Turns out the same with both ecu's.
When I put the Msb ecu in it fired no dramas I let it warm up for about 10 minutes during that time had a bit of a weird rev during idle and pumped a bi of smoke, and then continued idling ok. Took it for a run and ran as a standard td5 runs, apart from increase in temp. The egt gauge read about 150deg hotter and the engine block tempreture gauge alarmed. My set point on the engine block tempreture gauge is only about 6~10deg above normal opperating tempreture.
I got it home from the drive and disconnected battery for 20 minutes and rehooked nnn ecu. All has been ok since, which was about 6 months and 20,000kms although down a touch on power from when I first got it.
I figured that the Msb ecu ran standard timing but injectors where pumping the fuel rate in of nnn tune which created increase in temp. Could be miles off as I'm a greenkeeper not a mechcanic.

    Tune won't be gone...

    But you have another problem.

Likely to be one of the following:

    MAF out of range
    AAP sensor
Oil started to flow down harness
Failing turbo hoses - are they std?

    As for other lights:
    Abs module
    Poor earth somewhere
    Dirty connection on abs line

Gday Tombie, what if he was running an EU3 map in the NNN and the engine was an EU2, would you get similar symptoms

    Interesting question...

Let me have a read of this thread again...

EU3 would give a little less power with less smoke usually (as it's expecting to
    Inject more per cycle)

It's strange that they changed the ECU then refitted and the vehicle feels worse.

Something is going out of spec...

Best get on a diagnostic get some readings.

Tombie,I changed maf sensor before i mucked round with the ecu. I tested the maf resistance and it failed so replaced. I looked at maf because when ever i towed anything even empty boat trailer on slightest incline couldn't get off the mark without low range.

I changed injector harness a while ago. No change .

Still on original turbo hoses, they feel soft. I lost a hose clamp once and felt massive power loss replaced clamp and all good. Current power loss nothing like that. Would colapsing hose cause a fuel ratio imbalance and cause excessive smoke?
