Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience running a 235/85/16 tyre on a 8" wide rim. I'm thinking its not ideal but I may be proven wrong
Thanks in advance.
Adam
I know a couple of people who run 255/85/16's on 8" wide rims
98 Harvey the tractor - 300 tdi Defender Wagon
84 Alfetta GTV

They are ok because of the extra width. The reason I'm asking is I just put on a brand new set of conti cross contacts on my standard disco rims and I cannot justify throwing away those tyres just to make the car look balanced with a bodylift and flare kit. Next tyres will be 315/75/16 on an 8".

I doubt you could get a seal on the beads to inflate them, I have to use some butane gas & 'pop' them on to 6.5" rims , you would need tubes for sure.
and as mentioned the sidewalls will be quite vulnerable
Do you have standard steel disco rims?
Why not get the centers offset to help fill out the arches?
I have them on my RRC Vogue alloys. Wouldn't recommend it every time I go near a trail I end up with crap in the beads and lots of air leaks.
