I drove home down the freeway about 200km with my CDL in my 1988 RRC. It didn't seem to damage the CDL. It is not the same transfer case though.
If it had a CDL then it is the same transfer, BW doesnt have a CDL.
Straight line should be ok on bitumen for a short distance but i'd say there are other issues as i have driven on road with cdl engaged for a short distance and not had any abnormal vibes.
