Hi, my money is on the rubber coupling on the rear drive shaft. When mine went it felt like the front was the culprit.
Cheers
Hi all, my disco yesterday started to shudder quite violently after about forty K's an hour. But only when drive was applied so coasting down a hill or braking is smooth like normal but accelerating out of a turn or up a hill will just about loosen your teeth. My dad and I thought it may have been the front diff because the front drive shaft had heaps of play (rotationally) so we took it off to test. But no joy. Anyone had anything similar or any tips on what to look for?
Thanks in advance.

happened to me once,
it was a front driveshaft universal joint tight
NOT worn or loose.
worked it out when i realised vibration
was at same rpm in any gear
same could apply for fwd uni joint on
rear tailshaft
As suggested already, I have had similar scenarios when a uni joint is on it's way out.

Had a quick look there is no rubber coupling on mine, at all as in never was, so.... not that.![]()
this just a few weeks ago, vibrations were horrific over about 60kph but went away when coasting. Rubber coupling was completely torn to shreds which i knew was on its way out.
Is it a 3 bolt or 4 bolt flange on the rear diff ?
