The quadrajets were obviously set up very badly.
I removed the efi from my Rangie and fitted a Performer manifold and qudrajet. Never looked back. Much improved vehicle. Totally reliable, more power and economy. Never ever had a problem on any hill, up or down.

better still go lpg, fit a impco 300a mixer on top of your quadrajet and u have the best of both worlds, and when u go off road switch to lpg and u can drive upside down,,

Would have to remember to wear seat belt in that case, might hurt my brain.

Looks like I might stick with the efi, general concensus is that they are fairly reliable. Other issue is that if I wanted to fit lpg at some stage, would prefer to go with the sequential injection, had 800000+ kms in my Hiace of the old style feed directly into the airtake system and don't want to go there again.

Also been looking at the chips on the RPI site, but getting a bit ahead of my priorities at the moment, need to finish selling my old RRC bits before I commit too much time to the new moneypit.

People still bag holleys but i fitted a 350 on my 3.5 and fitted a small windage flap to the fuel bowl to prevent flooding and never had a problem.
I used lpg offroad and sometimes switched to petrol to get a bit more grunt.
