    LT230 with 23D serial no

I have an LT77 and LT230 here that was apparently from an early Rangie. When I split them apart I found that the gearbox output is fine spline (around 25?) whereas I thought they were all 10 spline.

Transfer has a 23D serial number, but that's not even in the prefix list on the Ashcrofts site.

I've given Google a decent bash and can't find anything about fine spline ones, and even all the images of LT77's I can find show 10 spline output shafts.

Anyone throw any light on what I've actually got here?

    According to a document from Maxi-Drive, 23D suffix B is 1.003:1

AFAIK the LT77 in rovers had 10 spline mainshafts from the factory. My only guess is the splines may have worn, as they do, and it has been repaired by cutting a fine spline on the main shaft. I have a dim (unreliable) recollection that jackmac used to do something like this.

ls the diameter of the spline consistent with that theory, and can you see a splined bush in the input gear?

I thought only the TF727 used the 1.003 transfer ?

    Thanks John, I think that's it !!

There is a splined bush inside the input gear (splined internal and external), and the outside diameter of the fine output shaft spline is very close to the root diameter of a 10 spline.

Unfortunately it means neither the gearbox or transfer is useful on its own

Is it not possible to remove the bush from the input gear?

Probably, but the input gear has been resplined internally to a fine spline so doesn't leave a normal 10 spline inside if I remove it.

I could replace the input gear with a new one to re-use the transfer, but the bush and old input gear can only be used with the gearbox.
