Can someone have a look 300tdi

Can someone with a factory set smoke screw in a 1998 300 TDI Disco 1/Defender?, have a look and tell me where the top of the adjuster is in relation to the lock nut, ie how many threads above, below or whatever. Seem to have lost the plot with mine.
    Many thanks

    they're all different.

varies by year, spec and engine as each engine is slightly different and the final thing done during the initial run up is the last of the tweaks on the pumps.

Do you mean the one on the top of the boost compensator?
If so, back it right out, then start from stationary, keep turning it in 1 turn at a time until it puffs too much smoke, then go back 1 turn.

I you mean the full load screw you might need expert help with that.
    Good luck.

Yep, the one on top of the compensator, can I back it all the way out? I was worried the whole lot would come out. Thanks.

Not a TDi I know, but this might help show what's in the top of your pump... This is what I'll be doing to the Cummins in the 101! There's several videos of Bosch pumps similar to yours on YouTube. Start with 'Bosch VE' pump. That'll find you most of them.

No, it won't come apart. You can take the screw right out, the diaphragm under the screw just comes up against the cover, that's the minimum point.
Just wind it in from there.
