Is this a standard 24 spline Rover hemisphere?

Have been investigating my Defender and opened up the intermediate axle.

A friend had a look at the image of the 4 planetary gear hemisphere and wasn't sure it was a Rover. I'm no expert in late RRc or Disco diffs.

Is the hemisphere in the image above a standard 24 spline 4 planetary gear Rover 3.54:1 diff?

Crownwheel tooth count 46 (same as the Disco 1 crownwheel just out of image)

    Diana

Doesn't look like any late rover 24spl hemisphere / planetary gears I have had apart.

I have one on my bench now with a std centre if you want a picture as a comparison

    An image would be great.

Remember my image is a front load diff, with a removable rear cover plate which has the shaft to the rear drive, normally the rear cover plate would a welded part of the housing.

Showing the shaft for the rear drive.

    Hey Diana,

This is a D2 centre from about 2000/1. It looks the same as all the other 24 spline centres I have had out.

    Cheers

as Pete has Shown, most common Rover diffs are only 2 pin. As you can see that casting would not support a 4 pin set up. I do believe that LR offered a HD 4 pin Rover diff as a factory upgrade over in the UK. Maybe it is the same hemisphere as yours??

This vehicle was part of a fleet order for a commercial customer through Land Rover Fleet Sales, part built by the Land Rover factory and sent to Reynolds Boughton for the 6x6 conversion and returned to Land Rover for completion and delivery. In short a Land Rover Special Vehicle without the Special Vehicle ID.

So I have no doubt, if there was a heavy duty option then it would be in this vehicle.

Addit: ???? Detroit - anyone have an image of one?

Getting more confused as we progress, however a couple of differences, the bearing carriers seem different, at least for the locking mechanism, although this may be a factor of early Vs late carriers.

Also at the blue arrow one could almost be convinced about a three piece housing and at the red arrow the cross is aligned with the housing where the 4 pin conversion it is recessed.
