Before you try messing with the idle speed, try cleaning the stepper motor (rear left hand side of the plenum as you look at it). Once you pull that out, you may find it covered in black gunk, if so, that may well be the cause of your fluctuating idle.

My idle was also a bit slow and irregular when I bought the Black Hole.

It would stall when I suddenly took my foot off the accelerator, as you do if/when your driving is'nt 101% smooth or predictable.
- Seemed as though the motor could'nt move fast enough to compensate.

Lifting the hoof off slowwwwly kept it running, until I finally cleaned/sprayed/fiddled with, so now it works fine.

Ping the cap off the base idle screw (99% are missing anyway) and adjust the base idle up using a 3/16 allen key.

Next before asking everyone to write out procedures long hand for you, 1. use the search facility at the bottom of the page and 2. buy a workshop manual from Dave's IT Shop (shop button at the top of the page) and familiarise yourself with the inner workings of the beast.

As Bee Utey says, you'd be very well off buying the workshop manual from the shop at the top of the forum. It supports the forum, and will come in handy for this issue, and others you will encounter as you get to know it.

The D1 is a simple beast in modern terms, but has a few foibles and weak spots that you will find lots of posts on here.

No worries. Just be aware that the UK spec D1 is slightly different to the Aus spec, no cats, O2 probes or similar for down under!
