    exhaust whistle

This has just made itself known to me , a drive sans music , just the damned leaking . So I ask how long can I go without doing anything and what are the risks ? Also what would an estimate be on parts for a DIY repair. I have to hide things from the finance minister at the moment. Thanks

It'll probably be the usual broken stud on the head & warped exhaust manifold. The manifold will need machining but most LR workshops have a changeover manifold on the shelf these days as it's a common repair.
There's also options to grind out some of the webbing & fit bigger/stronger studs too depending how far you want to go with the repair.

I wouldn't leave it too long.

If you're in Sydney take it to Davis Performance at Annangrove.

They'll put in larger diameter studs and prob suggest making some cuts to the webbing in the manifold.

Good quality work, it'll most likely be done in just a few hours.

You might get away with just the cost of gaskets, if the stud is not broken. [ Turbo has to be removed. ] As soon as I finish fitting the hoses & new radiator, I can give you a hand, Bob. If the leak is not too bad, Saturday would be a good day, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

Thanks Bob , will keep this in mind. Not sure the exact location of the leak without removing bits[ turbo shroud and possible second bat. tray } but having just been made redundant again got to prioritise the job search first , before spending Mrs Trog's money and taking the car off the road if things take too long.
