    Comments on Bridgestone D674

    Hi everyone
Iam about to renew my tyres on my defender 110 size 235/85 r16 and I have been ringing up for some prices and I can get Bridgestone D674 for $193 per tyre fitted I have tried to do some searchers on them to see what they are like but I can not find any so I was wondering if any one on here has used them and was wondering what they think of them regarding noise, wear, on/off road grip, wet/dry road grip.
    Thanks

If they are not an LT rated tyre i would not go near them....

Remember you only get what you pay for.

I would be concerned that they are only 2ply.....I have 697's in 8ply on my d2 which is where I would rather be, but it does depend on where you plan to drive...if it something like the Birdsville track then you really need the heavier sidewall protection.

    Thanks for the replys
They are a LT tyre and the tyres I run at the moment are general grabber at2 which have a 2ply wall and I have not had any trouble with there walls. But after talking to some dealers they reckon with the sharp in the area I would be better off getting the D673 because there tread blocks are not so pointy so they reckon the rocks shouldn't chip them as bad. For a $193 on special instead of around $ 300+ I reckon they are worth a go.

i have them on the disco, 245/70/16. not done a lot of km with them yet and non off road but they seem ok, in the wet they felt ok, only had a slight issue from a standing start in the wet towing the van recently the traction control kicked in to get me moving.

The 697's have an "8 ply rating" rather than an 8 ply construction. If you read the side wall you'll find that the sidewalls are 2 ply and the treads are 4 nylon plies plus one steel ply. They do have additional staking protection in the sidewalls near the tread block the but that isn't a full ply in the normal sense.

Today's load range/ply ratings do not count the actual number of body ply layers used to make up the tire's internal structure, but indicate an equivalent strength compared to early bias ply tires. Most radial passenger tires have one or two body plies, and light truck tires, even those with heavy-duty ratings (10-, 12- or 14-ply rated), actually have only two or three fabric plies, or one steel body ply.

I'm on my second set of 694's (TD5 Auto) and for the price they are a hoot. The only downside is they are slightly taller than standard so when I tow the 2t van I notice it on places like cunninghams gap , I think approx car will sit close to 1 inch higher as a cheap way of ground clearance, I set the toe to 0 given the tyre is a tad wider at 10mm (and found this quite stable) at the higher psi setting and most recent trip to Perth and back in Xmas summer heat saw me cruising with well.

live and learn....yes it says 8pyl rating on the tyres.....don't see 2ply walls written though......but they seem to be very tough.
