    300tdi getting hot?

My 300tdi (fitted to 2dr Rangie) has always run at the correct temp on the VDO gauge. Now suddenly it's showing well over 100c. Have changed the thermostat and no change. Could it be the water pump? I thought water pumps just started to leak not stop working altogether.
Strangely there is no sign of overheating, no smell no nothing.

Your key culprits (in no particular order) assuming it's not extra load, dragging brakes or In the event of an auto a problem with that (essentially anything that's making you add boot to keep the same speeds)

    VC failed
    Radiator cores blocked
    waterpump impeller failed
Too much load from ac condensor

It may not be overheated, physically check the temps and compare it to the gauge, if it's more than a few degrees different check for

    Sender failed
    Bad supply/earth to gauge
