Is there anything u can put on the perentie camo paint to protect it/ make the colours a bit deeper? I over sprayed a bit with WD40 and that actually made the paint look better - washed off in the rain as expected. Any ideas?

Yep, what Dave said, give it a wash with Prepsol or some other brand of wax and grease remover, maybe a bit of a rub down with 1500 wet and dry being careful not to remove too much Camo, then spray a coat of Satin clear.
