Hi Mahn
The Stage 1 Series had either the rover 3.5 V8 or 4cyl Izuzu diesel. They also had the RangeRover gearbox and constant 4x4.They have leaf springs and drum brakes and 3.54 diffs. They have a Defender style bonet with a steel mesh grille(flat front like the defender),inside they are identical to a series3 except for the rangerover centre difflock and its warning light(above the Ser3 handbrake light).
They are pretty rare as Kev stated. My bro picked up an unlicenced Stage 1 van with a stuffed 3.5V8 and a spare 3.5 for a whole$800,the body is reasonable to good.It sits untouched in his backyard,he sometimes muters about selling it as it takes up room and his lack of time to work on it.(he already has a 2A safari wagon with a Ford 4.1 C4 auto and LPG plus a Chrysler Signet,an american version of the AP5 but 2 door original V8 4 speed, believed to be the only one in australia!!!!)
So a good offer may find the stage 1 a new home,he is up in Perth WA
Cheers

Hi Phoenix
Thanks for the info, when I tell my bro that the Stage 1 he has is 1 of 18 he wont part with it!!!!!!.I have told him I want it to canibalise several times, and he said we will "come to an arrangement".Being 1 of 18 it really should be rebuilt as original,oh dear not another landy project!!!!!!

Unfortunately phoenixs list doesn't include my brother in laws stage 1 (or any station wagons)

The pic was taken in 1989 a couple of years after he bought it, he still has it (now resident near Caboolture) only complaint is how thirsty it is

Photo was taken near Haddon Corner (and I bet its not that green there at the moment)

Actually I have the list of ALL series 3 and stage 1 vehicles to come from the aus factory with chassis, body and engine no's along with dates and sequence numbers.

Only problem is that about 2600 of the 6000 odd entries are incomplete, but none of them are station wagons. so I suspect that the station wagons came into the country whole, or are just listed as 109 hardtops.

The listing isn't 100% because of the missing entries, but it is from the factory. Give me a body number and i'll see if ti is one the the list and spit back the details.
