Been reading a bit lately about issues with 'sludging' in the Tojo 2d4d or what ever its called motor in Prado's and Hiluxes. Apparently the cause is leaking injector seals allowing fuel to mix with the sump oil and thus causing sludge to gather around the oil pick up. The results have been catastrophic for some.
Apparently the replacement of the injector seals is a service item every 40,000km! I have no idea what they charge for this but knowing Toyota, it won't be cheap.
Is this the only engine where these seals are a service item?
Just curious since I've read about this problem in several places.
