Ecu upgrade from Adelaide triumph and rover for td5.

I was wondering if any of our south Australian members have any feedback on the ecu upgrade for the td5 from Adelaide triumph and rover

They claim 30% power increase and it is $500 fitted.
Is there a better option in Adelaide?

I bought a 2001 Disco that seems to be chipped by Triumph Rover Spares. Their mechanics thinks the sticker on my ECU means it's a chipped one.

My first Disco so may not be the be all & end all of information.

Still has slow response down low.

Seems to have plenty of go when the turbo is on the boil.

Tows my camper through the hills just fine.

Economy seems about usual for the TD5.

    Hope this is helpful??

have a talk to Peter Brown at PCB Independent Landrover ph 08 8350 0110. He has worked with the Autologic guys in the UK on "Ozzie-fying" their tunes. Had his tune on my Puma and was wrapt. He does Td5's as well I reckon. Also, it's a re-map not a replacement ecu so can be re-mapped again or set back to standard.

I spoke to Peter brown today, he referred me to Bruce Davis in Sydney.
Bruce can do an ecu for me for around $800 but highly suggests that I should upgrade the exhaust manifold at the same time, especially as I will be using td5 for heavy towing. He can suply me a heavy duty manifold which he ships in from France for around $800. Then I need to drill out the front and rear exhaust studs and replace them with 10mm studs.
So this means I will be putting of the ecu upgrade for a while until I can afford to do it all at once. For now I will just do the intercooler, exhaust and egv valve.
And then lift it 2" and be happy for a while.

I had a TRS remap in my Td5 130 when I bought it,and it was very doughy down low and cam on with a bang as the VNT wound up.Had the ECU remapped by Bruce Davis, and it much more driveable and still "goes like stink" when the wick is lit

Not wanting to take anything away from OZ suppliers, but for $800 I'm pretty sure you are getting close to a nanocom plus a TD5Inside remap

1st you need to know what type ECU you have.
If it is an MSB type which is quite possible in your year model, then you need to replace the whole ECU and have access to a Nanocom or similar.

If it is the later NNN ECU then you can remap it with a Nanocom or similar and a map from a competent tuner.

There are dozens of threads on here, do a search and see what option best suits you. Ive had a TRS MSB ECU and it was pretty good, but, again do a search re: EGT's, Boost and intercoolers also.

The 800 price quoted option is umm... overly optimistic for a replacement MSB or a remap on a NNN. so too is a the exhaust manifold.

If the price is for a remap and a replacement NNN ecu it is a little more realistic.

Ok so a nanocom isn't actually a ecu upgrade? It is a tool used to flash tune the existing ecu? Am I correct?
The quote I got from Bruce Davis was for the 1s gen ecu which needs the bord changed. So that is why it costs a little more.

    Correct.
It also performs diagnostic functions on the vehicle.

Costing more for a MSB ( or first gen if that's how BD is referring to it) is the case from all suppliers. But the amount quoted is not reasonable.
There are a few contrasting opinions on the BD unit from a few members re: driveability and high EGT problems.
