    PUMA WONT START

Hi all AGAIN. Thank someone for you mob, thats all I can say.

Alright, after using a hot-wire set up to start there 110 for the last 3 weeks while waiting on an ignition barrel, just fitted it and it won't start. Been on it now for 3 hours trying this and that and have power to all the terminals at the back of the ignition switch and have checked the push on things, but still no start. Power to all electricals OK.
Earlier today when out, I noticed it would not start when when hot-wiring, but the it did and did so another 10 times whist checking why the new ignition when connected would n to start.
    Any suggestion.

This suggestion might be a bit basic, but have you reset the immobiliser by locking & unlocking with the remote button?
Also, having replaced the ignition barrel, you may not have thought to have the lock remote attached to the new key when trying to start? I believe it has some sort of proximity sensor arrangement so the remote has to be near the lock when starting. Battery in the remote has to be good also.

After I was having a fiddle with my Puma to fit a low water alarm the thing was as dead as a maggot. I was told to lock it with the FOB then wait 4 minutes then unlock it. It then started. Frightened the daylights out of me.

Thumbs up THANK YOU OLDYELLA and POD

Well done and appreciations to Oldyella and Pod for what would seem, well sort of a long shot for most cars, but then we rant dealing with most cars are we.

These two were right on the money and after 5 hrs total of trying every wire under the dash and blowing fuses all over the shop, I locked the **** of a truck, then unlocked and Voila he started. Then a weird thing happen after i turned it off just to make before putting the entire dash back together, it would start then stop after 3 seconds or so. Did it again, I hoped out locked it, then unlocked and voila, magic.
Now after fixing all the fuses that pertain to the dash, he starts without locking and unlocking.

Thanks again people, this forum is priceless.

Glad it got you going gasman, what a pain to have spent a heap of time on a wild goose chase. The first time any of my friends ever saw my 130, I turned up at a mate's place and parked the car, left the keys in the ignition. When it came time to leave a few hours later, the thing would crank, catch, then die straight away, with everyone looking on. I was on a hill so I tried roll-starting it, no go. Thankfully I thought to try locking & unlocking before I got to pulling fuses. The asian 4wd owners amongst them would have loved it.
Had a funny thing happen with my wife's Astra last week, the remote buttons on the second key have never worked since we've had the car, the other key stopped working too so I changed the battery, nothing...finally read the bit in the owners manual about the remote locking, to reset the key if it stops working you have to put it in the ignition, turn it on, then press either button for 1 second and it resets the key.....10 seconds later she had 2 working keys. These things are designed to make a monkey of you.

Its just crazy that the LR is just held together with a song and a prayer and they go an install this type of razzmatazz.
In Repco today buying one of the BIG fuses (Luckily) and he said, who would want to steal a Land Rover.

    Well said I thought.
