weird rattle 300tdi 101:
"air cleaner bolted to head via rubber bushes = weird rattles when worn"

My 300Tdi has developed a weird rattle in the area around number 1-2 cylinders.
The noise seem to be Tappets, however they have been adjusted and are fine.
The noise started on Sunday and as soon as it had started and I pulled up to check what the heck was going on it had stopped.
Here's the weirdest part, the noise disappears on left hand corners and gets more noticeable on right hand corners and is only heard when the engine is doing over 2100 RPM on the Tacho.
It's got me flummoxed.

also check the AC gear if its fitted and pray its nothing to do with the fly weights in the top of the injector pump.....
got to have a look see inside an injector pump a couple of days ago on an old nissan diesel that had had the pump weight pins worn so badly the governor weights were flapping and at just the right speed were positioned to hit the body, sounded just like tappets.
something about not wanting dust in the injector pump just go a whole new level of "yeah not worried about that anymore". The pumps been reasembled as was and is not going to be driven around the farm till failure.
