    Timing Case

Hi all, well finally got the crank nut off and timing case to reveal a double row timing chain, but it looks like it has been hitting the cover would have made a horrible noise I recon, can I just grind that lug off before I reuse it,

Also, when I removed the end main bearing cap that is where the crankshaft oil seal is I noticed this, looks like the oerson who gad this apart before used a screwdriver to get it out and has marked tge face a bit, would this cause any trouble, its smooth there sre no burs or nothing, and it is a nice interference fit.

you can use bearing blue to see if they sit proud by painting the face of the bottom half, the blue needs to be put on very thin to get an accurate reading then place the bottom half back in and lightly tighten with the bolts remove and you'll be able to see the high spots by the pattern left on the block side if you find they sit proud use a piece of very fine emery/wet and dry and just take the tops off until they are no longer proud by checking with blue again slow process but you'll get there. looks like a butcher has been there before.

    Grind it off.
I ground far more off the dizzy tunnel on my 3.9 to fit a Rollmatser double row timing chain.
