Hey guy's I have an articale somewhere at home about a series 3 with PS using a series 1 disco steeing colum and rangie box

The two spoke steering wheels with the fine spline...I think is about 25 - 30???
Will fit!
I had one on a 78' series 3 SWB then transfered it to the 82 Stage one!
They have the same splined colomn.

Is this to fit to a series???
As i have one on at the moment, same splines but you need to space out the wheel as the thread of the steering coloum is not long enough, so you will be able to rock the steeringwheel!

Sounds like the same issue a friends b/f is having - and looking for a replacement wheel... (small world).
What do you mean by "space out" the wheel.
How would I remove the old (S3) wheel and fit the new one ?
I've never even had a good look at a S3 setup before nor a clue how to remove or fit a Defender wheel. Any tips ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

All you need to do to take of the cover is to pry the centre cover off with a screw driver then uno the nut, and pull the whee off!! Easy
If you compare the series wheel and defender/disco type, you will see the in the centre of the wheel where the splines are longer on the series.
The defender splines are shorter, and when i first fitted it this differnce in spl;ine lenght allowed me to do the nut up on the steering coloum to the end of the thread, leaving play in the steering wheel (i could rock it on the splines 8O )
All i did to space it out was to add some LR spring washes and i locktited the nut/thread.
Hope this makes sense, you will understand if you do it!
This was just my way of doingit, there probaby is a better way to deal with the spline lenghts!
