I suppose we're all aware of the need to be careful with the ADRs when doing conversions. As an example my 88 hard top is classed by the ADRs, ute with fittings (seats, windows and canopy) :? Most would call it a panel van and makes a huge difference to what modifications I can futher make without falling into another category, like "individually constructed vehicle" which then starts costing biccies to maintain relevant bits of approval.
I reckon the kits would be a ripper of an idea if you could secure a market, just look at the series, how many of those don't trot around with holden powerplants these days :?: Wouldn't say I was a "guru" on the Discos and Rangies of late as to what could be shoehorned in. My point is so long as the proposed engines would not be older than the vehicle it is to be adapted and it's not a way out there style conversion then there shouldn't be any foreseeable consumer problem. Perhaps only one issue, prohibitive overall cost of the conversion to such a relatively new vehicle.
Would love to see another option! Just wondering why you dont like the tdi's ? Cost of purchase perhaps or reliability ? I understand you can buy a derivative of the tdi300 called the Powerstroke which is a 2.8lt for close to 10k aus, but thats just the donk! I think you can get kits from the UK to fit the mitsubishi 2.8lt turbo diesel but the kit itself costs around 3k aus and these 4M motors are going for about 4k seconhand. I think you can get a chev v8 turbo diesel coversion done for about 10k in wa.
got nothing against tdi except the cost ,as with most things you do money is usually the problem.whatever conversion i do price will have to be right.

Hi
I got a '92 mitsi 2.5 TDI for my '88 mitsi Trytoo for $2450 inc freight from brissie.A strong motor with a lot more grunt than a tojo 1hz 4.2.Wouldnt recomend one for a landy transplant, they are well known as a grenade waiting to detonate. Havent heard many complaints about the 2.8diesel,except for a batch with dodgy timing gear, but they should be long dead by now.
