			Injector loom

My 2000 disco developed the same problem. It is known about by LR. Apparently oil from the injectors leaks through the rubber seals into the electrical loom causing it to short out. The symptoms are erratic idle and a loss of power under load. You may also notice dashboard warning lights coming on and off intermittently. My SRS airbag light came on and stayed on. Fortunately, the Disco was under warranty at the time, but both looms and the ecu were replaced and it cost around $2300. My view is that it should be a fault rectified by the factory as it is a common fault with 99-2000 TD5's.

I've heard of this problem in the past and I wonder if it isn't that something is shorting out but that the oil seeps into the crimped connectors and insulates each strand from the next. If this is the case, the connector could be intermittent.

Any comments from other electronics bods (I'm an electronics tech by trade).
