Transmission Oil Temp Warning Lamp
Recently I was driving through the Adelaide Hills floods in my 1994 3.9 Disco (in High Range) and the Transmission Oil Temp Warning Lamp came on. It was a cold day, and I could not find any apparent reason for the warning lamp comming on, I put the fault down to an earth problem thinking that the high water level must have something to do with it. The lamp is now on permanently, even when starting first thing in the morning(although intermittantly goes out). I have had it checked a number of times and the mechanic can not find the fault !
Is this a common problem ?
Is there an easy solution ?

There was a problem with the switch corroding/shorting - might be the fault with yours if you can't locate any other cause?

mine did the same thing, cured mine by getting all the mud out of the sensor. The hard part was finding the sensor, it is located on the transmission cooler line as it runs under the radiater. It is exposed to the elements and has two wires running off it. As I said, took the connecter off, cleaned out the mud and no more problem. Hope this helps.
