Series 5, 6 or more :)
Discussion starter for consensus - doncha ya luv it
Had various discussions over this in the past, yet haven't seen anything here. Did think for general chat, but no, it really becomes a technical question
and one for real cognoscenti input
Thinks we need to get this sorted. How would, or how does "Series" run
1 to 3 is easy.
Now using the 1 to 3 logic/rules
4 County - 4A Defender ??? or both together as 4 because identical under the badge, C/W Tdi, Isuzu, TD5, V8, (or Defender had a substantial “change” other than a decal, and that would make it 5.)
Does an engine variation make a difference given that it is really only the diesels that have changed.
On my written sort of logic here that would then make 07MY Series 5 (or 6), 09MY 5/6A ,and the 2.2 11 or 12MY, 5/6B. However the latter were only really engine changes.
Once we get consensus reckon we could possibly organise appropriate "series" badges - and cause a bit of consternation in the marketing offices of LRA and Solihull
Cheers

Series continuum.
Why are current Landie's called "Defenders"? What are they defending?
I agree with Rick, should be re-labeled as "Series".
Henceforth I consider my Jan 14 110 as a Series 6. Sounds Good.

Ahhh! but here/there is the dichotomy, all of the models that you sort of refer to as possibly 5, 6, 7, all have Rover V8 variants, so in reality the change in the spec of the diesel really doesn't count.
Thinks perhaps we can say with some confidence that "County" ie Landie on RRC running gear and single windscreen with both diesel and V8 is Series 4.
As far as I can see, and unless anyone comes up with anything different , or a better argument; 07 model year with revised interior/dash, a/c etc, and all the Ford bits is Series 5. (Are there any other major changes that would need to be included for S5?)
Apart from the various engines, and because of the diesel/V8 duopoly to conform with the various EU and USA emission standards, nothing else changes, as far as I can see through to 13/14 model, they would still be Series 5..........and if we were to include those would they only, following 2, 2A logic be alphabetical. ?????????????
So from the previous:
(5) tdi200 - 5A
(6) tdi300 - 5B
(7) TD5 - 5C
(8) Puma - Ahhh! 6
(8A or 9) Puma 2.2 - 6A
Come on guys, let's get with it
