    Disco 1 Bonnet Vents

    Hi,

    Looked around for ages looking for a good solution to keep the engine cooler in the heat.

    Found these louvers over in the USA, brought them back and had them painted up, and fitted them.

    Its helped heaps in allowing the block to cool down after a run, and in standing traffic / slow off road.

    But, it won't cure any existing problems with your cooling system, that has to be addressed before you fit these.

    I brought a second hand bonnet same paint code if it all went wrong, but they've been in for 4 months now, good results.

    This is going to sound like a dumb question, but would the vents on top make any difference in a water crossing? I was thinking that any air normally trapped under the bonnet keeping some of the water out now would escape via the vents. I do like the look of them though. Anything to keep a 300 Tdi cooler is fine by me.

    If you hunt around Bunnings you'll find similar vents, I also saw some on a boat part web site for venting boats.

    I would certainly have one on the turbo side to push away the heat, I have plastic wire connectors in the vicinity that are melting but I think I would face the louvers the other way to try force air in and down.

    The Classic has, IMHO, always needed engine-room venting. I've seen one with a simple mesh hole where the LR322 has their 'gills' and a few with holes on the bonnet-sides.

    The look I'd like is perhaps a bit ambitious, but boating hardware might look ok...
    The stainless ones are around 10 to 12" long. - 300mm
    Tried to find a pic of the more rounded ones.. so far no luck.

    I do like the middle picture of the vents you posted ......do you know where to obtain them from.

    I've been looking for a while and can't find something with suit the classic style.
