looks like a good unit, might have to get one for the new Defender

As we rush off lemming like and cut our radiator hoses to spite our cooling systems to insert another filter. Where is the science?

My cooling system is not full of silastic 8O . It would have bits of hose in it after grafting in this bit: a self fulfilling professy.

Who said we needed to have this?: they what sell the product do.

Understood opinion too.

But have a look about and there is a lot of after market gear that is ment to help or clean or power up for no given reason.

And how do I know that the radiator flush done at 120,000km was necessary?

I don't.... other than by the wisdom of the service manual and the man being paid to do it.

In these things we trust with blind faith.

My extreme custom R.R has used one of these filters for several years. Surprising just how much silicon and rust finds its way into the filter.
That was very good advice to clean the filter after short intervals initially.
Good design, quality materials, well constructed, worth the INVESTMENT i.m.h.o.

I have revived this one because I am getting one for my D2 after the rad filling with crap - owned my D2 V8 since new in 02 and flushed regularly and use OAT.

I have had this filter in my earlier holdens. It DOES work...let me say that again it DOES work. It catches small sediment that would otherwise get stuck in the rad and build up. The gause filter is very fine - much finer than the socks you can buy for a similar purpose. You should check it weekly after the first week or so (daily in the first week).

When you have a TEFBA and use it for years you soon see that it works and I cant believe I have been without one on my D2...paid for it though having to get a new rad and now I can look forward to good cooling again.

PS. I understand levelling snake oil comments at some things, but a fine gauze filter is sensible even if you havent seem them in action...

Go to a truck wrecker and get a water filter from a Cummins or some Perkins. These are a spin-on canister that also contains inhibitor.
