Got mine from Ritter in Melbourne, they wreck cars... paid $350 for my 130 litre !!
Needed to be repainted because it was never primed.
Matt.
While we're on it - where does one get second hand larger fuel tanks ? Presumably form a wreckers as no-one else would be offloading them.
I was thinking of getting one at some point (I'd never have to fill up again but more importantly it would get some extra weight on the back for daily driving) but the price for new ones put me off.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I've got a LRA long range tank in my Discvery and the sway bar packers are just appropriate lengths of 40mm square tube drilled to fit the longer bolts. The steel in the tube is about 3mm thick from my rough measurement. I haven't had any dramas with that setup but if you wanted you could always put some short lengths of round tube inside the square to act as a crush tube.

thanks Iain for the info, have u got any pics u can email me or post here ?
matt.
Matt
I have e mailed some photos of my packers to you. Hope they help.
Iain
Thanks Iain.
I have posted Iain's handy work for others to see....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>As you can see the packers are just a length of 40mmsquare tube cut to the same length as the swaybar mounting brackets. Longer bolts are used to go through the swaybar, the packers and the mounting brackets. As I said if you wanted to you could cut some lengths of round or square tube to act as a sleeve for the bolts where they are inside the 40mm packers. That would add resistance to crushing. (Hope that makes sense) I haven't got the crush sleeves fitted and so far no problems, only had the tank in for a few months.
Thanks again Iain, these are great help.
Did u install the tank as well ?
No, I can't take credit for that. A local company did the install.
Iain
UPDATE, oh well the guy that was going to paint the tank can't do it before xmas now, so looks like I'm back to square one !!
Quick question, could you galvanise the tank ???
How would the fuel tank handle having gal on the inside !!!
Matt.
probably wouldnt be cheap but no reason not to gal the outside
cant you spray it with cans? wont that give enough rust prevention?
Was thinking that the paint would just crip off or mud and dirt and stuff will sit on top of the tank !!!
