    Fuel tank install...

Just cleaned up my fuel tank and sent it off to one of my friends to get rid of the rust and paint it for me.

I was hoping that someone else has installed one of these before... if you have I have a few questions about the my fuel tank and installing it :

Just need to know what all the connections do,

    A. Fuel Pump
B & C. Had a fuel line connecting the two, not sure what for !!
    D. ?
    E. ?
    F. Fuel inlet

I think that one of the connections at D & E is the fuel retuen line and one is the breather line, not sure which one though ?

The other thing is when I install this tank do i need to do any modifactions to the fuel pump or the fuel tank level sender ? or both ?

I believe the tank is a 130 litre "Out Of Town 4WD" tank, which I also believe is a "Long Range Automotive" tank !!

    Thanks
    Matt.

B & C connected would probably be so that the level is equal in both sections and release air as it's being filled so it doesn't get an air lock.

D would probably be your breather for the filler by the size of it and position.

E is probably the evaporative loss tube which would normally go to a charcoal canister somewhere in the engine bay.

Thats my interpretation of the layout as put an aux tank in mine not so long ago and is pretty much how I set mine up less the fuel return hose and evaporative loss tube.

Sender will possibily be out a little, mine is and no amount of bending the float makes it show the correct level. I just know when it drops to 'E' on the gauge I've about 20L left and better fill up soon.

Also I measured the pickup tube for the pump and measured the tank depth as the new tank was wider but less deep than the standard tank. Then adjusted the length of the tube to be a few mil off the bottom of the tank to be sure I have as much usable fuel as possible.

From memory now, I believe the fuel pump / fuel level sender assembly has the fuel line return on it !!

Thanks for the info Hellspawn, hopefully I'll get the tank bank soon...

Also does anyone know where to get some sway bar packers from in Melbourne, I believe I'll have to pack it out a little, or remove it completely

But after doing some work on mine in the past here is my guess:

    A. Fuel Pump
    B. Mulitvent (can be capped)
    C. Mulitvent (can be capped)
    D. Return from fuel tank filler / overflow
    E. Return from EFI fuel lines
    F. Fuel inlet

    Hope this helps

Don't like the idea of B being capped for the reason above. C would be okay as the filler and overflow/breather would stop any airlocking.
I guess one solution would be hook B to D but I guess B to C does pretty much the same thing with a smaller loop of hose.

I dunno might work with them (one or both) capped, seems unlikely though. Try it I guess.
