Trailer direction indicator light
Hi all just slipped over from The Overlander forum (by recommendation). I have a Series 1 '94 V8 Discovery. My dash warning light is not working and have checked the globe and fuse. Can anyone shed any light (pun not intended!) on this for me?
thanks in advance

Well it sounds trite but welcome to AULRO
This place has developed some "critical mass" and valuable focus without prejudice apart from a LR bias.

Does the light come on at all with the globe check when you first turn the key? If it does and it just won't work with a trailer attached, it could be the trailer electrics.
I completely replaced all the lamps on a friends trailer (because I borrow it from time to time, it was the least I could do! ) and put really good earth connections on. My trailer icon on the dash doesn't work when I have this trailer on but is no problem with other trailers I tow from time to time like the navy cadet boat trailers.
Just a thought, anyway.

The light does not work at all and never has. Initially I thought it only worked when you attached the OEM loom extension but realise now it should work as you describe. I have noticed 2 short wires off the trailer loom in the car with connectors attached, do these have anything to do with it?

I'm not sure. See if the wires run back into the trailer connector and onto the pins where the indicators connect to, probably pin 3 and pin 5. Maybe the loose ends should have some sort of detection module attached.

Hmmm.....v.good that sounds logical, I'll check. I have RAVE cdrom so that may help too.

Sorry, Stony. I had to run off and tend to more pressing matters. I was going to add to use a test lamp between the two looses terminals or either terminal and earth with various lights and hazards on to see if there is anything in those wires. Might be an easier way than dismantling the trailer connector.

No probs. I'm presently wading through the diagrams from RAVE....if I nut it out I'll let you know.

Been fiddling betwen work etc and have created a monster :!: Whilst refitting the instrument binnacle I've shorted out something. Now the SRS light is on all the time, have no warning lights at all, the rear wiper doesn't work, the cruise control doesn't work, the clock globe and two dash light globes have blown and the Trailer indicator STILL doesn't work :!: :x :x
Hope all these are related as it cost me $95 to have the SRS reset last time by the LR dealer. Gotta bad feeling this has $$$$$$$$$ written all over it
