I've got the Detroit locker rear (sals) and a true trac rover front, but in a series. Standard axles and a Holden 186. I haven't broken any axles in the 2 years i've been running them.
Cost for the rear Detroit was pretty much the same as the front Lsd. Got them from USA - I think it was expedition exchange or something like that. under $1000 each landed back when I got them.
Some info here on the Ashcroft, it is the pommy site, but the info is the same Ashcroft Transmissions
So... would one of these ATBs from Ashcroft would be a Good Idea on a late model Classic with (rear only) Traction Control.?
- I'm reading 'front' in preference to 'rear' if the budget only extends to one...
Rob, my prices are 2012 . But I think under a grand is unlikely. I bought the tru track from a croud in sydney, just found them on the internet, price was around $800, I think about $50 freight.
I looked around various suppliers 4wd shops on the net, the true track was not difficult to find and there was some price variation. Thye are about 620 USD in the states.
Shane at SBL Auto' took my car in and removed the diff center and sent it to a differential specialist for fitting the LSD center and then fitted it back, I can't remember it all but say that was another another $500, including a new set of diff center bearings, new oil for the diff etc. say the whole job was $1400 in 2012. My maxidrive locker & axles kit cost over $1500 12 years ago, and I think at the time they were $1500 for fitting , but I did that one myself. I think you should do the job for less than $1500. Still a lot cheaper and simpler than ARB etc.:)
I wanted to practice attaching photo, this an old picture when we fitted the maxi drive , the "salsbury diff dismantle gadjet", also used it to remove and replace the axle, and "bend" it for welding on the maxi drive mount.
I see it's just a thumbnail, I see other photos it comes out full size when you open the post, maybe next ttime:D
cheers simmo

I have a trutrack in the front. You don't notice it, except that I haven't been bogged for years. It's now hard to justify a locker in the rear.
I had a front locker in another 110, and you definitely noticed the change in steering when it was engaged.
Anyone running a rear Trutrac in the front I cant see it making a difference but am interested to know.Changing the gears over is not a big job but is it necessary ?
