Online Holden W/shop manual

Hi LandyAndy
A workshop Manual from any holden post EH will give you the basics of Removal and Refit of the Red & Blue Holden motors the common books are by Gregory's they cover all through EH-HD-HR, HK-HT-HG, and the HQ to HJ the early Commodore VB-VK the main things are the head bolt tensions and that they are pulled down in 2 stages -- Stage 1 0 to 30 Ft/lbs and Stage 2 30 to 75 ft/lbs.
Tightening Sequence:

12-----8----4----1-----5----9-----13 >Front of Head

11----7----3----2-----6----10----14 8)

that may by of some help to you. Valve (Tappet) clearance is 0 and the stamped arrows on the rocker pivotsare to face the manifold.
Cheers Rocket

G'day Andy, can't help you with a website but i'm sure i have a HQ-HJ gregorys manual in the shed somewhere. If you can't find something to download give me a shout and i'll scan the engine pages for you and email 'em.
Regards

Red 202's have adjustable rockers ?
I'm getting woeful in memory these days. If it does you might have some trouble resetting them. Though you've done a rover six so you should be okay. Fairly sure most here could help you with the setting method, motor has to be running.

Public Library has manuals for most motors if you have a borrow card or as you say, can take a punt at swap meets. Maybe photocopy the pages from a manual of what you want to know about the motor and glue them into the LR green bible ?
