Air-con and Endless Air - same compressor?

Is there any way to convert the air-con compressor in a 300Tdi to also function as a compressor for endless air (combined), or is it a case of using it exclusively for either?

It would start to get very expensive if you were filling tyres with AC gas!

I am pretty sure someone on here managed to piggy back an A/C compressor for endless air onto their existing A/C compessor on a 300tdi. It was a few years back, they did a write up or tutorial on it at the time.

    Cheers, Mick.

You could design up a total-loss AC system which uses air as the working fluid.

It won't compress to vapour any longer and your AC radiator out the front will start to look more like an intercooler. But it'd work great as an air compressor too.

    Simply put NO YOU CAN"T

The air conditioning system is a closed system under pressure. It can not be used for anything else in it's current state.

Your question was can it be used as both, no it can't, however 'A' compressor can be used as an 'Endless air' compressor, it just has to be a separate compressor.

One can be fitted up to do the job, they have an advantage that they are set up ready for anytime you flick the switch, just have to engage the clutch on the front same same as the air con does.
